Growave allows you to use your own custom domain for the Referral program. Since the default link looks like that (example): https://refrr.app/pUzphmlxrM/62389 so you can change that to a custom one 😉.

For that, you will need to create a DNS record and add it to the settings of the Referral program. So in our setting of the Referral program, you need to put the custom domain, for example below:

Shop Domain

Since your main domain (let's say: growave.com) is already linked to Shopify, you will not be able to use it for setting up a custom domain. Instead, you can use another domain or create a special subdomain (like: referral.growave.com or ref.growave.com )

DNS Record

In your DNS provider, such as Name, GoDaddy, BlueHost, etc., you can use the existing record or create a new one. Indicate a resource record type as CNAME and - ref.refrr.app as a value (canonical name for the alias, single-level redirection). So in the HOST, you need to add referral (or just ref it`s fully up to you😊), in the POINTS TO - add our referral link that is: ref.refrr.app, TTL can be any. Here is an example:

If you want to use a custom domain and not the subdomain, then when adding a DNS record, please leave the "Host" field empty. But if the editor does not allow you to leave that field empty, you can enter "@" there.

Testing CNAME

If the "Referral link expired" error occurs, when trying to follow a custom domain that you have changed previously (i.e. referral.growave.com or ref.growave.com ) - it means that you have set up a DNS record correctly.

Settings

In order for the custom domain to be applied to the referral links of new users, you need to save it in the referral program's settings.

NOTE: Once your Referral program's settings have been updated, if there were any old customers who had referral links - it might take a little while to update them from our end since it requires launching a custom job for it. So once again, please have no worries, it just needs to be updated and will take some time 🌞.
